Some poems come from stormy places.
Others arrive quietly.
The Little Bird Collection grew from a different space in my writing — a quieter, more fragile emotional landscape. These poems explore trust, closeness, and the delicate moments where connection becomes possible again.
If Fractured Mind speaks about the internal battles we carry, Little Bird explores what happens when the heart begins to open after those battles.
The image of the bird came naturally to me.
A bird is small, watchful, and careful. It does not land everywhere. It chooses where it feels safe.
It watches closely, learning and waiting, choosing its moment only after everything has been considered.
Little Bird, to me, is not small.
It carries years of experience in its wings.
People may underestimate it — that is their folly.
Little Bird Collection is about being strong enough to lean towards another person and trusting them after years of being used, abused, and neglected. If you have read The Lie poems, you will understand where that fear comes from.
It is the point where you begin to feel safe enough to reach for human contact — even while fear and trepidation sit in your chest.
Your body wants to reach out, but old memories hold tight to the things imprinted on your mind.
These poems live in that fragile space.
They are about finding the courage to move forward and believing the other person will not hurt you. They are about slowly allowing yourself to feel again.
There is vulnerability in these poems, but also strength.
Not the loud kind of strength that fights the world, but the quiet strength that says:
I am still here. I am still willing to feel.
The Little Bird Collection is about finally finding release — surrendering your fears to the possibility of connection and allowing yourself to feel without constant fear.
Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is not to fight, but to trust.
In these poems, the little bird does not disappear.
It learns where it is safe enough to land.
