 Blog -Loss

My spoken-word piece about loss, alongside Farewell Brother, comes from a place I can’t dress up or soften.

This isn’t imagined pain.

This is lived.

The loss is deep —

Built from years of a bond that was unbreakable,

Full of sibling connection,

The kind that doesn’t need explaining

Because it was simply there.

Loss, for me, hasn’t been loud or dramatic.

It’s been quiet, heavy… constant.

The kind that sits beside you

Even when you’re trying to get on with things.

There’s a space now that wasn’t there before.

Not just around me — but inside me.

And that’s what these pieces hold.

Not just grief,

But the weight of love that didn’t get to stay.

Farewell Brother is my way of honouring him.

Not just the loss —

But the bond.

The strength we had.

The history we shared.

The love that doesn’t disappear

Just because he’s gone.

This work isn’t about perfection.

It’s about presence.

About saying:

This happened,

This mattered,

He mattered.

If you listen to the spoken-word,

Or read the poem,

You’re not just hearing words —

You’re standing in a moment

Listen to the full poem

That’s still unfolding.
